CLUB NIGHT TO BE HELD TOMORROW
The weekly club/ night of the Whakatane Athletic Club will be held at the Domain tomorrow evening commencing at six o’clock when events will be held for all classes of competitors. At the present time members are in serious training for athletic meetings to be held at Matamata and Tauranga over Easter. The club has hopes of attending these meets. From next week Club meetings are to be held on the Domain every Saturday afternoon. So large are meetings in the evening that it has been found’ that many events have been held in the dark and it is considered that the afternoon meeting will answer this problem.
Huge Plans To Spread Scriptures
The American Bible Society plans to publish and distribute throughout the world nearly 14,000,000 copies of the Scriptures and other Biblical literature during 1950. The Society has helped translate the Bible—in whole or in part —into the 1,108 different languages and dialogues spoken by nine-tenths of the human race. In addition, it has prepared braille copies of the Scriptures for blind persons in some 33 different languages. While most of the printing is done in the United States, the organisation also provides for publication in other countries. Complete printing presses, paper, and other materials have been sent to Japan, Germany, China and Korea. * *
