OVERCAST CONDITIONS AT SUNDAY’S SHOOT

On Sunday the Whakatane Legion Miniature Rifle Club held a shoot on their Valley Road range. A slightly overcast sky made conditions excellent and the Legion members present took the opportunity to shoot their targets for the New Zealand wide “Pioneer” and ,: Vv estern” Cup postal competitions. Scores of members and visitors: — W. P. Tyssen 92, C. T. Bathe 90, A. W. Bradshaw 90, C. Bell 89, A. G. Judd 88, Miss A. Bathe 80, E. R. Hunt 78, R. S. Whittaker 71, Miss V. Browne 58, W. Addison 52, A. Baker 50, B. Whittaker 49, D. Dufty 43. On handicap results A. G. Judd was the winner of the silver teaspoon trophy and Miss A. Bathe von the pennant. SOME GOOD SCORES AT RAN GIT AIKI The Rangitaiki Defence Rifle Club held a practice shoot at the Thornton range on Saturday. Conditions were seven shots at 500 and 600 yards. The weather was fine but ,a strong wind made aiming difficult at times. Pearse was top with 66. Following are the scores for the leading ten men: — S. Pearse 32 at 500, 34 at 600, total 66, W.'Moore 31 32 63, L. Davies 33 30 63, A. Moore 33 30 63, C. Penny 33 29 62, P. Newton 33 28 61, R. .Burgess 29 30 59, L. Mikkelsen 30 28 58, F. TRICKY CONDITIONS AT TANEATUA SHOOT A slight changeable wind blowing across the range made conditions poor for competitors at Taneatua Defence Riffe Club’s shoot at the Opouriao range on Saturday. The competition was for eight shots at 500 yards. Scores: — J. Eggleton 57, J. Butler 37, A. Prince 37, A. Tebbutt 36, A. McGougan 34, T. Bart.’ 34, K. Tebbutt 34, R. Syverston 33, C.
