Pony Club Plans Combined Rally Probably In April
For a lot of young riders, their first experience in competition was gained at a combined rally held at Awakeri last year by the Whakatane District Pony Club. Branches battled keenly for points, and the day proved one of the most instructive yet held by the Club. An- » other such rally is being planned now. At a recent meeting of the district executive it was agreed that another combined rally should be held, probably in April, since the Club is to go into recess during the winter from May to October. A subcommittee consisting of the District Commissioner, Mr C. D. Blomfield, the president, Mr T. Heard, chief instructor, Mr H. Hill, Mr L. Davis, and the secretary, Mrs R. Cobbe, was set up to make preliminary plans for the rally. It was agreed that, while the Club would be officially in recess for the winter, branches could organise activities at their own discretion. _ Messrs Heard and Blomfield were appointed delegates to the Association meeting at Palmerston North in May. Mrs Cobbe reported that the re-
cent gymkhana at Whakatane showed a profit of £l9 7s, a result upon which the executive and the secretary in particular deserve hearty congratulations.
