MISSING CAR FOUND IN SCRUB NEAR TURANGI

The Vauxhall car belonging to the late Mr F. S. Hodson, who was found shot at Onepu on Tuesday night, has been recovered by the police. It was undamaged, but the number plates were missing.

The car was found in scrub about 2 chains off the road near Turangi in the vicinity of Tokaanu by a police party from Gisborne, on Saturday afternoon. They brought it back to Whakatane that night. Police believe the wound that killed Mr Hodson was inflicted by a charge of shot. A motor cycle which had been missing from Edgecumbe since last Monday was found on Friday afternoon lying overturned but apparently undamaged in a ditch about half a mile from the State HydroElectric Department’s sub-station at Edgecumbe.
