St John Brigade Holds Farewell And Presentation Social
Supporters and members of the Whakatane St John Ambulance Brigade gathered in force in the St John Hall to farewell one of the brigade members, Mr A. Attwood, who leaves soon to live at Waihi. With this farewell the evening was combined with a presentation to Miss L. Hirst and Mr G. Ramson, who are sopn to be married. Following the speeches and presentation the gathering turned into a bright social culminating with a popular community sing. Speeches were made by Mr A. J. Canning, president of the Whakatane St John. Association, and Mr E. Ramson, who paid a tribute to Mr Attwood’s services while in the brigade; A presentation of*'a fine autographed mirror was made to Miss Hirst and Mr Ramson by Mrs R. Terry and Mrs Hannah. Items were given by Miss D. Stewart, Mrs A. Stewart, Messrs Wilkinson and Mollison. The masters of ceremony wdre Messrs B. Drube and F. Bush.
