A decision to levy a rate of 3d per acre in that portion of the Pongakawa Rabbit Board known as the sea front area, was made at the last meeting of the board. The area concerned was only recently included under the board’s jurisdiction.

The area is described in the Valuation Roll, as: “That portion of the Tauranga County commencing at a point on the eastern side of the Kaituna River where it is crossed by a road forming the northern boundary of Section 15, Block VII, Maketu S.D. thence in an easterly direction generally along the boundary to and across the Te NgaePaengaroa main highway, thence along that highway tc its junction with the old Te Puke-Whakatane coach road in the village of Paengaroa, thence along that old coach road through the village of Pongakawa to and across the Otamarakau or Waitahanui Stream in Block IV, Waihi S.D. thence along the eastern side of that stream to the sea, then in a north-westerly direction generally along the sea shore to the eastern bank of the Kaituna River at Maketu, thence along the eastern bank of that river to the point of commencement.
