More Dairy Produce Graded For Export
An increase of 1350 tons of creamery butter graded for export in New Zealand “for December, 1949, compared with the corresponding month the previous year is shown in figures issued by the Dairy Division of the Department of Agriculture. Figures for cheese for December, 1949, show an increase ' of 370 tons over those for the same period the previous year. Creamery butter graded for export for the five months ended December 31, 1949, totalled 90,882 tons compared with 80,890 tons for the same period in 1948. The figures for cheese for the same five-month period showed an jSicrease of 3533 tons.
If the figures are converted into butterfat equivalent there is an increase of about 1H per cent in butterfat graded for the five months compared with f!he corresponding period of the preceding season. The' figures refer only to butter and cheese graded for export, and. because of diversions which take place from time to time they are not necessarily a true indication of production trends.
