Surf Lifesaving

AUSTRALIAN TEAM TO VISIT OHOPE Arrangements are now well ahead to receive the touring Australian Surf Life Saving team to Whakatane next Tuesday.-The Australians arrived at Auckland on Monday and will commence their New Zealand tour this week, visiting first, centres in the Bay of Plenty The team will arrive at Whakatane on Tuesday and spend the day at Ohope where they will give surfing demonstrations both with the surf reels and surf skis. A drill demonstration will also be given by t&e New Zealand champion women’s team, Whakatane Ladies, the present holders of three New Zealand titles.

While at Whakatane the Australians will be entertained by the Whakatane Surf Club. They will stay the night in the town and will be the guests of the local surf club at a dance at Ohope in the evening. From Whakatane the team will leave for Gisborne next Wednesday. The team contains several wellknown personalities of the Australian surf world, some of whom are considered to be among the top surf swimmers of the world. While in this country the Australians will meet New Zealand in two tests.
