BOARD MILLS PICNIC WAS GRAND FUN

“A grand day’s fun” could be taken as the phrase that sums up all the opinions expressed by those who attended the Board Mills picnic at the Caledonian Sports Ground, Ohope, on Monday. There was a splendid muster of approximately 450, including a strong contingent from Matahina, and everyone, particularly the children, had a splendid time.

A hard-working team of officials kept things going brightly all day. Expressing his. own and his committee’s satisfaction with the day, the secretary of the Mills Social Club, Mr J. B. Forbes, also expressed thanks to the following trophy donors: Messrs C. Armstrong, H. Armstrong, B. Butler, H. Dewar, A. Donaldson, C. Hudson, D. C. Morpeth and Sons, J. Moore, R. Oxenham, Para Rubber Co., H. W. Sharp, J. Waterhouse, Whakatane Radio and Electrical Co., B. Woolliams. The . comprehensive sports programme included 30 events for children, but no detailed list of placings is available. Results of the adult events follow:
