Miss L. E. McNeil has been appointed assistant mistress at the Whakatane High School.

Mr and Mrs R. Bartlett leave Whakatane next week to reside at Hamilton.

Mr and Mrs T. King, Waimana, are on a camping holiday in the Auckland and Bay of Plenty districts.

The Minister of Agriculture, Mr Holyoake, has accepted an invitatiop to open the Te Puke A. and P. Association’s Show at Paengaroa on February 18. S

Mr R. King, at present on the staff of the Whakatane Branch of the Bank of New Zealand, leaves next week on a relieving assignment at Kohukohu, Northland.

Mr A. Dowell, formerly on the staff of the Commercial Hotel, Wha-katane,-is now chef at a Napier Hptel.

Mr A. H. Fryer-Raisher has been appointed head teacher of the Whakatane Primary School, according to an announcement by the Auckland Education Board yesterday.

The Rt. Rev, N. A. Lesser, Bishop of "Vyaiapu, will visit Whakatane next week to institute the Rev. Terrence M. Loten, the new Vicar, on Tuesday evening. The ceremony will be followed by a* social in the Parish Hall.

Mr J. Moody, veteran secretary of the Opouriao Dairy Co. Ltd., is to retire following the golden jubilee celebrations next week. Mr Moody has been associated with the Company since its inception.

Mr G. W. Kemp leaves Whakatane early next month fqr Suva, where he has been appointed manager of a warehouse. Mr Kemp, during his stay at Whakatane, was a keen worker for the town’s progress and was secretary of the Beautifying Society, a member of the Council of the Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Winter Show Association’s executive.

Mr Raymond C. Quick, 8 Totara Street, Te Awamutu, who is engaged in electrical engineering studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Mr S. L. Strack, 3 Partington Street, Auckland, who is studying mathematics at Dickinson College, / Carlisle, Peimsylvania, have been awarded Fulbright travel grants to facilitate study in the United States.
