Child Chokes On Chewing Gum

According to a report a near tragedy was averted by the prompt action of a visitor to Maketu recently when he saved the life of a small Maori boy who was swimming near the rocks. The boy,- was ocercome in a choppy sea and was soon in difficulties. It was later learned that the child had choked while chewing gum in the water and had it not been for the visitor’s promptness the boy would have been drowned.
