WAIRERE CUP COMPETITION ON SATURDAY

Further trial four trophy races before the Hamilton regatta on January 30 are to be held by the Whakatane Rowing Club on Saturday when crews will compete for the Wairere Cup. Races are to be held oyer the usual course of a mile and will finish at the club shed.

Referring to these trophy races yesterday the club captain, Mr B. Norman, emphasised the importance of such meetings in providing racing experience for crews, especially crews. He said that he expected Whakatane crews to be well up in races this season and the more trial fours crews raced in the better prepared they would be for regattas. !

Saturday’s races were Jo start at 9.30 a.m. and, Mr Norman pointed out, a compulsory attendance was {required of all active members.
