BIG CONVENTION OF ADVENTISTS JUST FINISHED
(Special to Beacon) Palmerston North, Tuesday. Yesterday campers evacuated the grounds on which the 1950 Convention of the north New Zealand conference of Seventh-day Adventists has been conducted during the last ten days. Pastor L. D. Vince, of London, conducted the final meeting of the convention, on Sunday night. Striking of the camp; which will take a week to complete, commenced today. A vast amount of canvas, enough to cover a 25 foot road for a distance of a mile, was used for the camp. This, with the remainder of the equipment will be stored in Palmerston prior to being conveyed in 14 railway trucks to Auckland, where it is expected that next year’s camp will be held. The 1950 camp just concluded is the largest ever conducted by Seventh-day Adventists in New Zealand. Offerings lifted on Saturday amounted to £1,589 10s 9d.'ln the afternoon collection the children threw 2,653 pennies into a blanket. Most of these offerings will go towards the support of the denomination’s educational and medical work in the South Pacific.
