REP. TEAMS TO MEET ROTORUA
Mr V. Marx, selector, has announced the following teams to represent the Whakatane Cricket Association against Rotorua at the Whakatane Domain on Saturdya:—
A Team: J. Ruff, L. Thurlow, T. Brown, F. Paton, K. Tunnicliffe, V. Tunnicliffe, W. McCready, McConnell, S. fehapley, A. Green, J. B. Rivett. B Team: E, Malaquin, R. Cleland, E. Tunnicliffe, R. Patterson, W. Rivett, P. Revell, J. Shaw, C. Griffiths, T. Lyons, F. Whitcher, Millar, J. Barker (12th man). The A fixture .will be an elimination game for tne Attrill Cup. Play starts at 10 a.m., and players are required to be on the ground at 9.30 with a plate for afternoon tea. All P. and T. players are'expected to attend a working bee at 5.30 this afternoon. 1 BAY OF PLENTY TO PLAY FOR HAWKE CUP Although no date has yet been fixed for the Bay of Plenty-Hawkes Bay elimination cricket match for the Hawke Cup arrangements are nr w in train for the game to be played at Napier during February. The Bay of Plenty team has still to be selected. The Rigden Shield match between Bay of Plenty and Poverty Bay will be played this year at Gisborne on January 28 and 30. The trophy is at present held by Bay of Plenty, after defeating Poverty Bay at Rotorua last year. The draw for the Attrill Cup, which is for competition among the Bay of Plenty Sub-Associations provides for Whakatane to play Rotorua and Opotiki to meet Pongakawa, the winner of the latter match to play Tauranga. SUNDAY’S FIXTURES P. and T. v Edgecumbe at Whakatane. Taneatua v Te Teko at Taneatua. Waimana, a bye. TEAMS FOR SUNDAY Edgecumbe players to assemble at Edgecumbe at 8.45 a.m. to travel to Whakatane to play P. and T.:— K. Tunnicliffe, E. Tunnicliffe, T. Browp, L. Thurlow, K. Watson, T. McManus, R. Hill, N. Heath, A. Blake, P. Blake, R. Hunter, K. Civil, B. Wilson, R. Andrews, J. Meikle. LATE STARTING Recently the Association has been concerned about the late starting of some matches and it has been decided to enforce the starting times rigidly. Teams not on ,the ground on schedule will henceforth be in danger of losing by default.
