PONY CLUB HAS WIDE SUPPORT ALL OVER WORLD

Country towns and districts are steadily losing their boys and girls to the attractions of the cities, and any movement that will help to stop this trend should have the assistance and help of the community. On Saturday at the Pony Club Gymkhana the boys and girls of Whakatane and a wide surrounding country area will demonstrate their ability to look after their horses and their knowledge of horsemanship in general. In 1929 some of England’s military men and leading huntsmen decided that if England’s horsemen were to continue to lead the world in horse mastership the younger generation would have to be properly trained and educated in the of horses and taught »the best and safest methods of handling an animal on the flat or over the hurdles. The English Pony Club was formed, and the movement was spread like wildfire over the civilised world.

In 12 months over 300 b9ys and girls on this coast have joined their local district Pony > Club, and on Saturday will show their parents and the public the wonderful progress they have made under the able and keen instructors who from all branches of the Club give their spare time to the movement.-—Con-tributed.
