Public Opinion
Though their views on all subjects are freely published here because we believe it our duty to uphold the public’s right to freedom of opinion, our correspondents’ opinions are not necessarily shared by this news, paper. DUST AT OHOPE Sir, —I have just come home after a delightful few days at Ohope, and I must admit that you have a beach there almost as good as some down this way—a statement to which my Whakatane friends will no doubt object hotly. But, joking apart, could not the local authorities do something about the dust? I drank it in tea. I ate it on bread and butter, in lettuce salads, on my meat. It floated like pepper on the froth of my beer, and I’m sure the inside of my stomach must be all muddy. You have the ideal holiday resort, but the drawback I have mentioned is one which has been remarked upon by nearly all the other visitors I met there. Yours etc., POVERTY BAY.
