Importance Of Lime
A large amount of calcium goes into the secretion of milk. If lime is deficient in the pastures, then the. cow does not get a sufficient supply of calcium from the grass. Hence top-dressing of pastures with lime is essential.
Cows that have been grazing on lime and mineral-deficient pastures can always be identified by their habit of chewing odments of bone that may be found lying about. To produce good milk, it is essential to consider the mineral supplement in the animal’s diet.
