Kowhai Institute’s December Meeting
The December meeting of the Kowhai Women’s Institute was presided over by Mrs Cooper. Members inyited friends and the evening took the form of a Christmas social. The / Parish Hall was attractively decorated with flowers and Christmas festoons. The roll call for the month was an exchange of gifts and drew a good response. Two sketches were presented by the Drama Club titled “Just Give Anything” and “Safe Area.” These caused much amusement. Christmas carols sung by memIbers in a candlelight setting were enjoyed by all present. Competition winners: Musical parcel, Miss J. Cutanch; flower competition. Miss- Harding; guessing competition, Mrs Chamberlain. Competitions for the month: Comical hat, Mrs Rae 1, Mrs Ellis 2, Miss Richardson 3; sponge sandwich. Mrs Timbs. yt Hostesses for the evening were Mesdames Price, Rae, Stenhouse and Timbs. i
