Farmers Want More Spare Parts For Farm Machinery A keenness to see the question of spare parts for farm machinery coming into New Zealand further investigated, was voiced by Mr J. L. Holman, Opotiki, at a meeting of the executive of the Bay of Plenty Sub-Province of Federated Farmers (Auckland Province) in Tauranga. The chairman, Mr R. W. Dunning, Otakiri, said that the question had been raised earlier and was being investigated. English cars had had a good innings in New Zealand, continued Mr Holman, but he would like to see American products given a fair show. The price for many English parts was four times that paid for the American equivalent. He had spoken to agents for American machinery in New Zealand, and they had expressed an eagerness to have the question investigated. There had been every assurance of a change in the present position, remarked Mr E. J. Whyte, Katikati, who added that dealers had told him that parts for American tractors and machinery were obtainable. The position, however, needed clarifying. ' / “If Britain wants increased production from New Zealand she willj have to make more machinery parts available,” he added.
