Cream Again Cream rationing has been suspended throughout New Zealand 4 as from today and dealers have had to 'prepare for a sudden demand. At Whakatane milk dealers have received orders, which are expected to last until the rationing commences again next month.

Daily Expresses As from today the TaneatuaAuckland and Auckland-Taneatua expresses will run daily until January 14. This is to facilitate ektra train journeys to cope with the heavier demand for travellihg expected during the holidays.

C ongr a tulations The Whakatane Chamber of Commerce decided at its annual meeting to send congratulations to Mr W. Sullivan, M.P. for Bay of Plenty, on his re-election to parliament, and on his appointment as a cabinet minister. Mr Sullivan was a former president of the Chamber.

Town Busier

The tempo in the business quarter began to quicken last weelk as people'’ from all over the district centred on Whakatane to continue their Christmas shopping. Brfefh nesses all reported a busier time than usual most of the week but ; on Friday the town was' more \ crowded than usual and shops handled a greater volume of customers. This week is expected to be busier with the peak about Wednesday.

Junior Chamber Wanted

The possibility of establishing a junior Chamber of Commerce ill the town is to be explored by the Whakatane Chamber of Commerce, it was decided at the annual meet-/ ing. Mr R. T. Morpeth said that in many towns a junior chamber was doing much valuable work for the community and also ensured the flow of young men to positions in the chamber of commerce. He thought that a junior chamber at Whakatane would be able to do much useful work for the town and district.
