12 Months Probation For Theft
Charged with stealing a gold wrist watch valued at, £9 on November 5 and £2 on October 29 from a private residence Ned Waititi (Mr Otley) carpenter, was placed on probation for 12 months and ordered to return both the watch and money, by Messrs I. B. Hubbard and R. T. Morpeth, J’s. P., in the Whakatane Police Court on Wednesday. Accused, who pleaded guilty to both charges, had been working opposite the house and knew when the owner was away on Saturdays, stated senior sergeant F. M. Fuller for th epolice. The house had actually been entered on three occasions and although accused knew who had entered the first time he had refused to tell the police.
