Parking Space In Town

With the Christmas shopping building up, the inadequacy of parking space available in the business area of Whakatane is more than’ ever apparent. It is mentioned by Mr R. T. Morpeth, president of the Chamber of Commerce, in the annual report he will present tomorrow night, as a “major problem” for businessmen and local authorities.

. He suggests business people can help by parking where possible at the'' back of their premises, and he expresses the hope that local authorities will give urgent consideration to the question of providing more parking space. It could be added that motorists in general could show more consideration for each other by avoiding parking in the middle of the streets, or jamming their vehicles in in such a way as to prevent others’ getting out.
