Annual Meeting Of Bay Branch Of N.Z. R.N.A.

Buffet luncheon was- served to the members of the Registered Nurses’ Association, before the annual meeting was held recently in the Nurses’ Home, Whakatane. The president, Miss E. M. Armstrong, presented her report on the year’s activities, in which she thanked the members for their continued support to the profession.

The report mentioned the following activities during the past year: Lectures were given by Drs Flet-cher-Cole and Akel; a mpsical afternoon was held; a visit by the local members to the Te Puke branch of the Association; social evening in honour of Miss Lambie; a visit from Miss E. Brown, Dominion Secretary; a. garden party held at Edgecumbe; home-nursing lectures given to school girls, also .mother-craft lectures have been given to the High School girls in Whakatane and Opotiki, by the local Plunket Sisters; parcels > of food and soap have been sent each month to the St. Mark’s Hospital, London. Donations: St Johin Ambulance Brigade £lO 10s, Nurses’ Memorial Fund £lO 10, Plunket Society £2 2s, Crippled Children £2 2s, Health Camp £2 2s, Red Cross £2 2s. There are 47 members, and the report expressed the hope that more trained nurses in Whakatane will join the Association. Officers elected: President, Miss E. M. Armstrong (re-elected); secretai’y, Mrs Fletcher-Cole (re-elect-ed); treasurer, Mrs Gainsborough - Smith (re-elected); vice-presidents, Mrs Le Lievre and Miss Miller; committee, Mesdames McCorquindale, Ramson, Hawken, Whitworth, Seebeck, Misses North, Devine and Ward. ' !

Mrs Sumner welcomed the new, committee on behalf of the members, Miss Armstrong thanked the retiring members of the committee for their services during the past year.
