Beauty Contest Is Planned For Ohope By Local Surf Club

The Whakatane Surf Club has decided. to Hold a beauty competition on December 18, the day of the official opening of the season and invites entries from local girls. Entries Will be received at tHe club 'house on the day. Another competition will be held later in the year and the finalists will compete with the winners of other centres for the title of Miss Bay' of Plenty on January 15. The new season is to open officially at Ohope Beach on the afternoon of December 18 when a picnic day will be held- by all members and supporters. Both girls’ teams, which have been training for the ’ past two months, and a men’s team' will give displays of surf drill work and there will be novelty swimming races through the sUrf and beach evepts. 5 The first competition teams of the club will take part in this sum- . mer will be for the Bay of Plenty Cup against clubs from other parts of the Bay and Gisborne at Ohope on January 15. Seven teams are expected on the beach that day.
