Boy Left School A Day Too Soon
Because a boy left school the headmaster’s salary is being cut. The boy left Dowton school, Lancashire, England, on the day the register was compiled, so the roll showed 99 instead of 100.
By the Government salary scale the head’s salary will be £2O a year lower than when the school had 100 pupils, and his pension right will drop. Given these facts by the Rev. D. A. Smart, Newton-Willows Education Council decided to ask the County Education Committee not to make the cuts, on compassionate grounds.
After rubbing steel lire irons with emery paper, give them a polish with a good floor polish and they will keep their brightness for months.
