Three Labourers Drunk And Fighting
Fines of £2 each were imposed upon three Whakatane labourers, Henry Thompson, Walter Thompson and Kiri Martin for being drunk and disorderly in the Strand, at Whakatane on Saturday afternoon, by Mr C. S. Armstrong, J. P., when they appeared before him 'in the Whakatane Police Court on Monday. When he arrested them at 4.30 p.m. Constable R. Julian said that all three were well under the influence of liquor and were attempting to fight.. A truck driver, Robert William Ward, was found drunk near the fighting and was arrested for being drunk in a public place. He was fined 10s.
