SUNDAY CRICKET
Sir,—Last Wednesday a letter aj peared over the' signature of Cricket Club’s President, Taneatua. (Fault was found with United for n6t being willing to play matches on Shnday. This, he suggests, is unsporting. 1 I ' wonder has Mr Barker ever thought how unsporting it is to cut out of the game all Church-goers! •, Whether we play or not, we do like to see a good game of cricket. But of this pleasure we are deprived. V I have lived in several districts, but Whakatane is the only one where • matches were played' on Sunday. • Many ministers of the. Gospel have been excellent cricketers, and . had the game been confined to Sunday such 'names as.Blamires, C. T. Studd and Bradman would never have been heard of. Now what about the sporting aspect of the matter? Yours etc., v H. HOGG.
