Party Of District Guides At Tauranga

A party of approximately fifty Girl Guides from Edgecumbe and Whakatane attended a field day at Tauranga on Saturday to meet and parade before the Chief • Commissioner for New Zealand, Miss Ruth Herick, who took the salute at an impressive march past. The girls participated in various games and competitions, and demonstrated work for the different badges. Whakatane’s demonstration was on ambulance work, Taneatua’s “keep fit” and Otakiri’s athletics. A coloured film of the day’s activities will be shown in this district • soon. Mesdames R. Ricketts, Commissioner for Edgecumbe and T. G. Santon, Commissioner for the Whakatane district, were in charge of the girls from this area.
