Farm Machinery Field Days

Three farm machinery demonstration Field Days were held last .week by the Eastern Bay of Pleniy District Committee of the Y.F.C. These Field Days were held at Thornton,, Taneatua and Opotiki. the Club in each locality being responsible for assembling the equipment. A farm machinery officer of the Department, of Agriculture, Auckland, conducted the demonstrations, emphasis being placed on care andmaintenance of the various types of machinery. Points of farm safetv in relation to the operation of machines was also stressed. Thornton had the best assortment of machines, including a horse mower. tractor mowers, horse and tractor side delivery rakes, a drill, a double furrow plough, a leveller and pressure spray equipment. At Taneatua and Opotiki the range was not so wide.

Attendance at these demonstrations was fair at Thornton and satisfactory at Taneatua and Opotiki. Eacb field day was followed in the evening by a lecture on hay and silage by Mr E. R. Marryatt. Fields instructor, Whakatane.

Raw onions will not chase away colds, nor has garlic any qualifications as a blood purifier and “cure for all that ails you.”
