WHAKATANE WINS SHIELD SERIES In the first round match- of the Dunlop Shield tennis series, "played at Rotorua at the week-end under very trying conditions, the Whaka.tane team led by seven matches to five when rain made it necessary to abandon play. The result of the match was left in doubt technically, because no definite ruling to coyer the situation was available, and the matter has been referred to the Bay of Plenty Association. It appears, however, that: Whakatane will rightly be permitted to record the match as a win.
