WHAT IS FREEDOM?
Sir, —In the Beacon Press 4.11.49 Mr Freer asks, “What is Freedom.” The freedom of the individual, and even the importance of true freedom is lost sight of by centralisation! When the Government insists upon regulating everything .... they become choked by their own administration. Thousands are crying out for houses, which they could of had if commonsense methods had been used to build them. The Land Sales Act (with all its controls) caused frustration of human endeavour. Can Mr Freer show how the control of currency would be taken out of the hands of the people! And when was it ever under their control? The controllers of ■ our present money system may as they have done before, alter their system to make its errors less obvious! Sven, allowing banks to be “Nationalised’® (without giving fredom ox secuivTV ity to you and yours) rather will they distort it (through. Government) by coupons, licences to buy and other forms of administrative restrictions. Men and women' are becoming enlightened. ‘State’ control has less appeal! The State, far from being a warm sanctuary, and inexhaustible benefactor is a cold evolutionist of centralised control. Profit by experience to guard against the next attack on the freedom of the subject. Hitler rose to power on the four freedoms; but refused the right to choose or refuse, and produced tne slave state under military control! It can happen here. Yours-etc., W. BRADSHAW.
