The Manawahe W.I. Celebrates It's 20th Anniversary

Many visitors attended the twentieth birthday party of the Manawahe Women’s Institute, held in the home of Mrs J. Morice. Taking the form of a- garden party the celebra-, tions carried on gaily for much of the afternoon with different competitions and games. Two amusing Mimes were presented by Manawahe members. One of the highlights of the day was the presentation of Long Service Badges to two members, Mrs M. Logan and Mrs J. King.

A most birthday cake, complete with candles, which had been made by Mrs Bowden and iced by Mrs Appleby, was cut after a delicious afternoon tea had been served. Competition results: —

Best flower, Mrs Morice 1, Mrs Bowden 2; best shrub, Mrs Appleby 1, Mrs Goldsmith 2; vegetable, Mrs Bowden 1, Mrs Morice 2; cotton frock, Mrc G. Logan 1, Mrs Bowden 2.
