Crop marketing and purchasing co-operatives in the United States added 500,000 farmer members during the 1947-48 marketing season, the U.S. Department of Agriculture reports. The membership of these co-operatives totals 5,900,000. Record Royal Show Entries The entries for the 1949 Royal Show, to be held by the Manawatu West Coast Agricultural and Pastoral Association at Palmerston North in November, constitute a Dominion record. The secretary of the association, Mr R. McCay, stated that the total was 3762, consisting of 1308 cattle, 1459 horses, 737 sheep and 258 pigs.
