More State Houses Completed In New Whakatane Block
With one State house completed and occupied last week and a further one now waiting allocation Whakatane’s housing shortage has been further relieved. Still more respite will be given to the homeless when two more dwellings are handed over to the State house authorities by the end of this month. Up to the present seven houses have been Occupied in the State block in Tuhoe Avenue and ten more are still in various stages of construction. The house occupied last week was a two bedroomed structure and the one at present waiting allocation has three bedrooms. The other two houses that the contractors expect to be completed by the end of the month both have three bedrooms each.
The next houses nearing completion have the walls and roofs-finish-ed and will probably be occupied before Christmas. One has two bedrooms and the other three. The other six houses in the process of construction have just had the frapework erected. Two are waiting for roofs and walling while the other two have not. had the framework quite completed yet. The two waiting for roofs are one four bedroomed house and one double unit, each having two bedrooms. The remaining two are a three bedroom and a two bedroom.
