Two Bishops To Arrive At Week-End
Whakatane is to have visits from two Anglican Bishops this weekend. fit Rev N. A. Lesser, Bishop of Waiapu, arrives tomorrow evening, and Rt Rev S. G. Caulton, Bishop of Melanesia, arrives on Sunday afternoon. Bishop Caulton, who was Vicar of Whakatane .immediately before the Rev J. C. J. Wilson took over the Parish, will no doubt have a large audience when he preaches at the Evensong on Sunday night. He will also show a new moving picture on the work of the Melanesian Mission at the Parish Hall on Monday night. Bishop Lesser will take the early morning service, at St George’s on Sunday and will preach at a family service at 11 a m. Then he goes to Opotiki and comes back here on Tuesday, All Saints Day, to conduct the Confirmation service in the evening. That morning Bishop Caulton takes the .307 service. After the Confirmation there will be a gathering of people to meet Bishop Lesser. At 7 a.m. Bishop Lesser will celebrate Holy Communion which is to be attended by the newly-confirm-ed. Wednesday evening he meets members of the Vestry . and will later be the speaker atV a men’s meeting organised by the Church of England Men’s Society to take place in the Parish Hall at 8. Thursday he meets and speaks to Church women’s organisations in the afternoon and conducts a service at Edgecumbe at 7.30 p.m. He leaves on Friday for Rotorua.
