British Road Safety Campaign

Emphasis during the British road safety campaign in 1950 will be on the safety of children, and there will be a National Children's Safety Week in March, organised by the Ministry of Transport. The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport, Mr James Callaghan, M.P., has drawn attention again to the figures—l,ooo children killed every year, and 30,000 injured.

Adults and other children will be asked during this safety week to set a special example to the younger road users. The campaign will be assisted by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, whose own efforts under the name of "Operation Piccaninny" will be intensified next year.
