HEALTH STAMPS SELL SLOWLY AT WHAKATANE
Since the opening day, sales of Health Stamps at Whakatane have slowed up considerably. On Tuesday and Wednesday, less than four pounds worth were sold in the two days. Whakatane has still about £24 to sell to attain the annual quota, but the Post Office hopes to sell this amount during the present month and they are commencing a campaign to try to do so. Two .major errors have been discovered in the 3d value of the stamp. In one, the full stop after Id has been omitted and in another an extra dot has appeared. In this stamp the leaf of the plant at the base of stamp is broken. It is now noticed that there is a plate number on the sheets but it is so small it could easily be overlooked. The two stamps with errors will be much sought after by philatelists, who frequently buy a whole sheet to secure errors, which are much more valuable to a stamp collector.
