MATATA W.I. HOLDS A SUCCESSFUL FLOWER SHOW

Recently the Matata Women’s Institute held a very successful flower show in the King’s Theatre, Matata. There was a very good display of blooms, even though the weekend previous was against the plants appearing their best.

The decorative classes were a very fine collection of exhibits and the cooking section looked most attractive.

The children’s entries were outstanding, a very popular competition being the miniature gardens, in which there were no less than 17 really excellent entries. Pastel drawing and hand writing also also showed keen competition and there was very good work shown in both sections.

The Rose bowl goes this year to Mrs Smith, who was first in the points prize. Mrs J. Parkinson was second. Results were::— " Flowers
