TWO SETS OF DELAYED ACTION” TWIN CALVES

Amongst a herd of 90 cows on the Wilson Estate farm at Awakaponga two have already given birth to “delayed action” twin calves, the second calf in each case being dropped almost exactly a month after the first. On the same farm there have so far been four sets of normal twin calves born this season, and two sets in one day. On August 30 a 2-year-old heifer •dropped a normal bull calf, and the milkers promptly got busy on her. During September she yielded 301 b butterfat with a 5.8 test. Then, on October 2, she dropped another bull calf. The other abnormal mother, a 4-year-old, produced two heifer calves, the first on September 2 and the second on October 1.
