SOME SPIRITED COMPETITION IN ANNUAL BULL SALE
The South Bay of Plenty Jersey Breeders Club held their annual Show and Sale in the A. and P. Showgrounds, Whakatane, last Friday, the auctioneers in conjunction being Messrs N.Z. Loan Company Ltd. and Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd. Mr L. Page of Te Puke, acted as judge of the very strong classes that were paraded before him. The following are his placing's:— Champion Yearling: Est. r Geo. Hill, Te Waiu Peter Pan. Senior Yearling Class: Est. Geo. Hill, Te Wuiu Peter Pan 1, Mr Neil Reid, Collindale, Golden Duke 2, Est Geo. Hill, Te Waiu Prince' Charles 3. Junior Yearling Class: Mr E. H. Hall, Blue Gums Super Snipe 1, Mr N. Reid, Collindale Real Boy 2, Mr N. Reid, Collindale Combine 3. Two Year Class: Mr E. H. Hill, Blue Gums Playmate 1, Mr R. H. McDonald, Merriland Royal Colours 2, Mri E. H. Hill. Blue Gums Red Count 3. Very High Standard
The sale catalogue of 165 bulls met with spirited competition throughout the sale, from a large bench of buyers who came from the whole of the Bay of Plenty and the Waikato districts, the top price bull realising 155 guineas, with an over all average of 38i guineas, this being almost five guineas above last year’s average. For the most part the bulls came forward in first class condition, while the quality was of a very high standard, and reflects great credit on the breeders.
