State Houses Allocated Two more two bedroom ' State houses were allocated from the new block in Tuhoe Avenue, Whakatane, yesterday. The houses were completed last week and advice of their allocation was received yesterday. The next houses, expected to be completed shortly are three buildings, each with three bedrooms.
Special Film Sessions About 1500 children from the Whakatane schools and schools in the outlaying districts attended special screenings of the film “Scott of the Antarctic” during the season at Whakatane. The country children, which included pupils of the Maori schools, were brought to the theatre by bus and picked up again immediately the film had finished.
Order From Africa A New Zealand firm dealing in novelty handicraft materials has received an order from Bechuanaland, South Africa, in consequence of an advertisement published in a New Zealand periodical. The firm has responded by sending a larger quantity than was covered by the postal order enclosed, and advising the buyer where further supplies can be obtained in Africa.
