OHOPE CLUB OPENS NEW SEASON The new season was opened on Saturday by the Ohope Bowling Club with visiting teams competing from Whakatane and Taneatua. The weather was fine with the greens in good order. Reference to - the value of the bowling green to Ohope was made by the patron, Mr J. Patterson, When declaring the season open. He said its existence depended to some extent on the support of visitors and he hoped that it would never lack the support. SEASON AT WHAKATANE OPENS SATURDAY When the® Whakatane Bowling Club opens the 1949/50 season on Saturday afternoon players will have 2 greens in tip top playing condition as a result of the work of the new greenkeeper, Mr P. Hodson. As the season progresses the greens are expected to become one of the best in the Bay of Plenty. An energetic committee under the able leadership of Mr C. Good, has done everything possible during the off season to cater for the needs of bowlers and the committee is looking forward to one of the most successful seasons the Club has yet had. New and intending members will be especially looked after and will be given tuition by the coach, Mr D. Anderson, on Saturday morning and at any other time during the season when' required.
