Traffic Tally Made On County Roads

Information required for application to declare Railway Road East and Wainui Road main highways was obtained when a traffic tally was held one day last month between the hours 7 a.m. and midnight, stated the engineer, Mr C. H. Brebner. in his report to the monthly meeting of the Whakatane County Council yesterday. The control point for Wainui was at the junction of Ohope Hill and Ohope Beach Roads near the Captain’s Cabin.

Two points were tallied on Railway Road East, one at Station Road junction and one at Pekatahi.

At Wainui 643 vehicles were recorded, 210 at Station Road junction and 261 at Pekatahi.
