Legion Gathering Hears Address On London Transport
Speaking to a large gathering of Whakatane Legion of Frontiersmen and their wives, Mr H. W. Brabant gave an interesting talk on a trip round the world at the ladies’ night held at Mr C. Bathe’s residence, Whakatane, on Thursday evening. Referring to his stay in London, Mr Brabant warned would-be tourists of some of the many mistakes to avoid, and stressed the necessity of a definite itinerary to follow, otherwise too much time would be spent on some of the sights, leaving much still to be seen at the end of a holiday. He had been impressed with the London transport systems for speed and efficiency and compared it very favourably with American standards.
