THE MILLS OF GOD
Sir, —It has been written (The Mills of God grind slowly,- but grind exceedingly small). The dollar crisis has definitely proved that a group of financiers domiciled in U.S.A. are out to dominate the world. Before the South Africa War the same type of men operated in America ruining thousands and dislocating commerce by forming trusts, cornering markets, etc. When Britain began to demand vast quantities of war material, the said men scented pastures new and began to work internationally. They had spies in every political camp, and took advantage of the friction between Britain and Germany, which resulted in war! America could have stopped it, but she kept out and made hay while the profideering sun shone. But the sinking of the Lucitania ■ caused such a tidal Wave of public opinion, that Uncle Sam had to take his coat off and the munition mongers put their eggs in the war basket which Woodrow Wilson successfully hatched at the peace conference bjr demanding gold instead of goods for the payment of war debts. This caused the big slump and forced Britain off her gold standard, opening an artery that has bled Britain white. The success of war prompted the desire for another, the result of which is today’s news. New Zealand and those she fought with and for, must carry on the same old game, buy dear and sell cheap, and pay interest on the profits made out of her own goods. Ask two schoolboys aged nine, if its a fair thing for one boy to mow lawns, run errands and go to buy ice cream for the other boy to sit down and eat while he is doing the chores'. The Commonwealth politicians have fallen for the same thing. Why? Because money talks. (I am not suggesting bribery) but high finance is the devil’s up to date subtle weapon because it is selfishness in its most powerful form. But the Mills of God are still grinding and will grind on until the last grain of self is ground, history has proved repeatedly. That “self” (be it individual or international) that ignores all but self, 1 ends in disaster, for “Thus saith the Lord, vengeance is mine I will repay.” Yours etc., H. SERGANT.
