Gardening Circle Meets At Thornton

Both the flower and vegetable competitions were judged by Mrs Ferguson at the monthly meeting of the Gardening Circle of the Thornton Women’s Institute. There was a good attendance, which was presided over by Mrs Arbuckle. Competition results:— Best flower, Mrs McDonald 1, Mrs Arbuckle 2; best vegetable, Mrs Arbuckle 1, Mrs McDonald 2; men’s buttonhole, Mrs Arbuckle 1, Mrs Tooke 2; National emblems, Mrs Arbuckle 1; naming flowers in garden, Mrs Branch 1.
