Seven New Members Are Enrolled By Awakeri Y.F.C.
A further seven new members were enrolled when the Awaken Young Farmers’ Club held its monthly meeting at Awakeri on Monday evening. Reports were given on the club’s recently held social, visit to the Rangitaiki Dairy Factory and the football match with Wainui, by Messrs I. McQueen, B. Mathews and S. Luttrell. It was decided to hold a visit to Matahina on October 1 and arrangements were made for the local traffic inspector to address the meeting next month. Other club activities this month will include two football matches, one with Otakiri and the other with Thornton, a dance on September 24 and two debates on the evening of September 26. A very instructive address on feeding fibrous foods was given by Mr E. R. Marryatt, Fields Instructor, in which he explained how the feeding of more fibrous fodder with luscious spring grass can eliminate much trouble and the risk of loss in dairy herds.
