Demonstrations To Thornton Women

How to make baskets and different methods of putting a taylors patch on a pair of trousers were instructive demonstrations given by Mrs McQueen at the monthly meeting of the Thornton Women’s Institute, presided over by Mrs Branch. This was followed by a humorous reciation given by Mrs McDonald. The competition in aid of general funds was won by Mrs Lennon. Competition results:— Best flower, Mrs Jones 1, Mrs Robb 2; best vegetable, Mrs Sheat 1, Mrs Robb 2; kitchen utensil, Mrs D. Branch 1, Mrs Robb 2; garment, Mrs C. Smith 1, Mrs Robb 2; pud* ding, Mrs McQueen 1. Hostesses were Mesdames Arbuckle, Ferguson and Fisher.
