Horseman Thrown In Front Of Car Seriously Injured

Run over by a car at Poroporo at about 5.15 p.m. on Saturday Raymond London, drover, Poroporo, was seriously injured and had to be admitted to the Whakatane District Hospital- His condition this morning was satisfactory. Mr London was riding a young horse along the main highway with two companions when the animal ap- r parently took fright and shied across the road. It slipped on the smooth asphalt surface, throwing the rider to the road in the path of oncoming traffic. Before he could be moved Mr London was struck by a car being driven towards Whakatane by Mr R. Gordon, Whakatane and was dragged some distance after being hit.
