House At Thornton Destroyed By Fire

Fanned by a gusty westerly breeze a fierce blaze soon completely destroyed the home, furniture, all fittings, property of Mr J. C. Dudson, farmer, of Thornton. Both the house and the washhouse and all the contents were a total loss. At the time of the fire, which occurred at about 12.30 a.m. on Thursday, Mr Dudson was away visiting his wife and three children, who are on holiday. As a result there was no one inside the house at the time of the outbreak and after the discovery by neighbours it had almost burned itself out.

At present Mr Dudson is baching on his farm in makeshift quarters until a more permanent residence can be built.
